THE CAP, LITTLE HAT

Throughout Croatia it was believed that creatures with special, supernatural powers (like green George, fairies, witches, dwarfs and giants) were born in a strange way, e.g. with the placenta. Therefore a part of their clothing is always a little hat that looks like the remains of the placenta that wraps the child inside the mother's womb. To wrap means to protect (for examle a girl's virginity), to hide (for example, your hair and your horns), to make invisible, to make stronger, to spiritualize. If it is red it is connected with the fire symbolism. A cone-shaped, pointy hat of the nature demon was created from the Sun, i.e. Moon horn, the horn of light. By worshipping their protectors, people accepted the hat as a part of their costume. It has the meaning of the light-beam, thunder, lightning, roof, veil, hat, wreath, coronet, crown, halo, net, basket, horn of plenitude, bowl and cup if it is turned upside down.
